Consignment
Consignment of Arts and Crafts
Thank you for your interest in consigning with Small Things. Here are the guidelines.
1. Items must be:
a. Locally made.
b. Affordably priced. (under $50)
c. Easy to display. Hanging artwork must come with reliable hooks.
d. CAT or companion animal (ie dog, hamster, petc.) or wildlife themed
2. The consignment period is normally for four months. This period can be extended or reduced if both the store owner and the consigner agree.
3. The consigner will price and identify all items on a list and on the product. (I encourage artists and crafts to attach a business card with info re the artist and the price.)
4. The consigner is responsible for delivery and pick up.
5. The store owner is responsible for damage in the store unless the damage is due to design challenges. For example, if the hook breaks free of the artwork, if the piece breaks on gentle handling, etc.
6. The consigner receives seventy percent (70%) of the consigner assigned price before taxes.
7. The consigner will be paid by cheque at the end of the consignment period and this payment will be recorded for Small Thngs income tax purposes.
8. Consigners are encouraged to provide additional business cards to accompany their work.
9. Consigners are welcome to hold their own Meet the Artist event – time and date to be agreed upon. (Alcohol free.)
10. While I cannot enforce this, I do ask that – during the time your work is displayed at my store – you encourage buyers to purchase these products here. In return, after your products are no longer in my store, I will refer to you.
I need to see your work and know your pricing before offering shop space. If it might not sell at ST:ABCD, you want to display it where it will!
If at least some of your items have not sold after four months, it is in your best interest to show your artwork at another location.
